I was aboard the Estes in early 1962 as an RM Striker awaiting transfer to RM "A" school in San Diego. Have great memories of the 1962 sailing to Seattle for the Worlds Fair and then a few months later to Portland, OR for the Rose Festival.

Never seen so many sea sick Marines than on the trip to Seattle - First Division Bosun 3rd Class yelled himself hoarse getting the jarheads to swab the port side of "his ship" from the Marines puking over the side.
