My Dad told me of really tough battles they had with kamikazes coming at them and the guns firing so much that the barrels would get so hot they couldn’t fire them anymore. He said that after eating lunch one day the pudding was bad (from what I remember) and they all got the runs. They then came under attack and everyone was crapping their pants while strapped into the gun mounts.
Just one of those crazy Navy stories that we all pass down.
