My dad’s  name is William Henry Bishop.  He passed away May 2009 at the age of 83.  He always carried a 1900 silver dollar in his wallet and the story behind it was he was on shore leave in Tokyo Harbor (1945)  when he and three of his crew mates made a deal to each keep a silver dollar in their wallets for good luck for the rest of their lives.

I believe I was the only family member that even knew of it and only remember him showing it to me twice in my life.  I’m now 57 and carry it in my wallet thinking about him daily.

Any one that might remember the bond of these sailors please contact me.  312-307-3587 or contact me at bbishop@sipi-metals.com
